Tips for a relationship dealing with a change in direction?
for example …. you met your partner as a big drinker in a smokey pub and spent most of your best times getting drunk together and setting the world to rights. Things are very serious between you and you want to change your drinking and smoking ways to see out the rest of your days together as an active healthy couple.
Both of you are under a lot of work pressure and not really persuing the careers that you want in the short term but you both have the end game in sight.
You need to be thrifty with money and stay out of the pub. You have joined a gym as a diversion but it’s a struggle, especially when you just get back from work and all you can think about is a drink and a smoke to chill out together.
How can you help each other through this time of change without taking it out on each other?

That was your common interest at first, on the next one, you’ll have to each engage in things that make you happy individually. Don’t worry when there is tension as that is part of recovering, you’ll get better with time and look at each other with new respect of new achievements, try taking each day at a time to see what you enjoy, eg a long walk might sound boring but when you get back, you feel much better.
